2. Click on your name (where it says Welcome _Yourname_)
3. Click the "modify" button on top of the page.
4. Here it is! This is where you make a profile.
5. Fill in information about you. If you have no idea what SSF is asking you, just ignore those questions.  Make sure the pictures you are putting are in either .gif or .jpeg format.

How do I attach a file to SSF? Tools Menu --> Add Discussion Topic. In the text box, include file information (tell us  which file it is written in example, MS Word 97 and it is a PC or a Mac file.)
--> Scroll down the screen, click on "Add Attachments"
--> Click on the "Browse" button. Click on the appropriate disk space and folders until you finally could highlight or click on the file you want to send to AVF. Click Open. --> If you have done this right, you should see the correct file now in the File box. Click OK to send it off (Again, ignore all other options).
I accidentally posted the same thing twice (or more). How do I delete one of them? Click on the title (should be blue) of the message you want to delete.  --> Tools Menu --> Delete --> make sure you click on and highlight the message title you want to delete --> Confirm your delete twice by clicking OK. The message should be gone now.

To avoid the problem, do not use the "back" botton on your navigator when you work in SSF.

How do I open other people's attachments? 1. Click on the attachment file (blue link) so that your computer will get it back for you (called "downloading"). It will ask where you want to put the file in your computer. Make sure you put it in a place you remember.
2. Open the program that the file was written in, for example, if it's a Word file, open Word; if it's Inspiration, open Inspiration.
3. In the program, File ->Open the file that you just downloaded. (this is where you need to remember where you saved it in Step 1.)

4. If you still have problems, very likely the file name needs to be changed. Some people give their files a long, long name with spaces between words, or no ending letters.  All these can cause problems.  So, you should always make sure that you file name looks like this:
8 letters in the first part and 3 letters in the 2nd part that reflect the convention of the particular program that the file is developed in.  No space. No symbols.
For example:
Word files --> filename.doc
Hyperstudio stacks --> filename.stk

How do I know whether or not there are
new postings since I log in the last time?
Click on the "List Unseen Button" at the top of the SSF page.
