There are the first floor story house and two story house. In the
center of the
city, there are a lot of apartment and they are very crowded. Some
house doesn't
get much sunshine and has no garden.
Almost single house have the second floor and built reinforced concrete.
In the country, there are house built of wood and have big garden. country's
house bigger than the city's house.
<Marina's opinion> The thing that I had imagined before I have come to America was the scene that is a one-story house line up. But there are many house that has 2 floors or 3 floors in Illinois. And I was surprised. But the garden is wide as expected. I enviable that is empty between house and house. In Japan, there is the case that we can talk with the next house together too. If we can open the window, we can talk easily. But I think that it may ordinary in Japan. I can't choose which is better for us. But inversely, Japan is complicated. So I can think that may interesting. I think Japanese people can enjoy the fill of liberation in America. I think that may enjoyment for Japanese people in America.
<Ayano's opinion>
I
think there is no big difference about shelter between America and Japan.
I depends on area. Maybe Illinois is country and also my hometown
is country. These area's home has an wide interval between house
and house, and has garden. the difference is about a lot of the first
story or the second story. But there are big difference about daily
habit. For example, the biggest difference that American keep
own shoes on in house but in Japan almost people take off shoes when they
enter the house . I could adapt this this but I think it's
big difference. My host family's house one floor story and built
of wood. there is a lovely garden and we always put t my shoes. I
could spend in the house very comfortable.
2. eat style

Breakfast: An American always
have bread, a serial, eggs, potatoes and milk
and orange juice and pancakes, etc.
Lunch: There are some pasta, soup, hamburgers, chicken,
pork, rice etc.
Sometimes they take a long time for lunch after they go to the church.
After main dishes, they always eat desserts as cakes and ice cream.
Dinner: They eat pork, salad, breads and
a dessert.
The staple food of the American is bread and many kind of meets.
These quantity is larger than Japan. These taste usually are stronger
than
Japanese food. But it's tasty.
The Japanese diet is built around rice. Traditional
Japanese food are Miso-soup
and fish, rice, pickled vegetables. But many Japanese have
bread as a
principal food recently.

American eat with knives and fork, and a spoon.
And they share one plate's dish and they take own plate.
A Japanese eat with chopsticks.
And plate separate every a dish for each persons.

I
say in a word, American meal is much. Moreover cheap!! My most impression
is the price of drink. In Japan, If we buy the drink of can, it take
the costs one hundreds and twenty yen. It is about $1.2 in America. The
pet bottle is one hundreds and forty yen in Japan . So in American money
is $1.4 . I thought after I came here. Do you think expensive
that is costs one hundreds yen in Japan when we buy
cola of can? In here, I can buy the half of price of Japan. What the American
people think of the price of Japan that is expensive extraordinary? However
why can we eat much and cheap? The questions remains.
I think another
one is there isn't almost rice. In our dormitory and in restaurant in here
too. But I was surprised it . I can think that Japanese footsies different
from American foods from main dish. Although I heard that Japanese foods
become like Europe and America, I think this isn't true very much
yet.
I noticed another
one is the taste is on lightly seasoned the whole. Japanese is particular
about there food and taste? Monosodium glutamate and food additive is natural
meal in Japan. I think maybe about it.

Eating culture
is very different. Almost taste of american food are stronger than
Japanese food. But taste is pretty good. I like American food.
And amount and size of American food is very large. I was surprised
American size.
In America,
prices of all of things are very cheaper than Japanese products.
(especially food prices) I could under stand why an Americans consume
a lot of things more than Japanese and why a Japanese usually want
to save money. I feel envy an America.
3. work [How
to spend a holiday]

America : In America is wide and the building is big too.
And there is a lot of place that we can spend
leisurely.
Japan: Compare with it,
in Japan everybody go out at one.
So if we go to some where, I don't feel we have relaxed.
<Marina's opinion>
I think that we
can enjoyed without high money in America. First of all, the land
is very big. And there are a lot of nature too. I think that has different
from here already. And the thing that I thought when I came here is the
outside is light till about 8 o'clock. I think that the the range of operations
spread by this. The survice industry doesn't close 5 o'clock in Japan.
It then close the store the time they doesn't pay in Japan. So I
came to here and I think it is strange for me. In Japan , almost
supermarket runs till 10 o'clock. Even if it early, the store close
9 o'clock. the way of that is we can spend with a lot of time.
And so that car oriented society, we can go to distance place. I
feel American people doesn't get through in near place. I think
that become good rest for us. We are spend busy on weekend in Japan. I
don't know why it. But I think almost the house in Japan is same style.
So I can see the American is very relax especially n weekend.

I went to
the church every sun day. And then I ate a lunch for a long time.
I felt that an American spent leisurely holiday. A Japanese
usually go out everywhere and mother do housework and shopping in
daytime of holiday. I feel a Japanese look so busy in anytime.
I think that it's important for some Japanese to take long rests.
Because some Japanese will have many stresses and they happen capable of
any crime. We need leeway in some Japanese hearts.

university has the student of various age. And I think there
are big preadth. By the way , Japanese society is eduction-concious.
But I heard that America isn't take it seriously. Is it true? I am
interested in it.

I hared American
students are very diligence. I thought that it's very similar American
students and Japanese students. (some students study so hard, some students
don't)
5. summary
< Marina's opinion >
I have the best
surprise after I came to America. It is the door of rest room. We can see
other people's legs. Because the opening is big in America. This is unpleasant
for me. The door has the space too...... . The second is the flush
toilet and bath is in same room. This is strange and dirty-looking. I think.
In opposite, I have a lot of things that I feel nice and conformable in
America. The first is the foods is much as expected. And the land is big
and here is not sultry like Japan. These are very conformable for me. I
have a lot of things that I would like to say. But so it will become
long, I stop about here. The final, I has learned a lot from this
final project. We have only one day till we finished this class and go
to another place. I'll try to do as well as we can from now on.

There are
many kind of difference between America and Japan. And also there are
any similar things.
In America,
there are many races and religious . In Japan, almost people are Japanese.
So it's interesting things for me. And also it's big difference about
rate that people have guns. I think it's big difference and big problem.
I heard often America is very danger place. Actually there are a lot of
cases in America, and also In Japan, the cases increase (especially the vicious
case of teenager). I hope that case decrease. Some difference of
these two country (America and japan) is very interesting. I'd like to
know more about American culture from now on, too.
