In this assignment, you will revisit a lesson you have previously taught, one which did not succeed in the way you thought it would. Think about how you presented the lesson, and rate yourself on one of the SIOP components (building background, comprehensible input, etc.) using the SIOP scale. Then, revise your lesson plan in response to the rating you gave yourself (which may mean including the component if you didn't originally include it or just expanding what you have already done with regard to that component). In your posting of this assignment, you will need to include the following:
Your original lesson plan and your reflection upon its success.
The SIOP component you intend to focus on, your SIOP rating of the lesson plan, and a detailed description explaining why you rated yourself the way you did (be sure to consider all elements of that component).
Your revised lesson plan (please use the highlighting feature in Microsoft Word to highlight the changes you have made).
An explanation of why you made each of the changes you made and why you think the changes will make the lesson more successful as a whole, in terms of your students' understanding of the concepts you were trying to teach.
* When preparing this assignment, be sure to refer to both the assignment description and the rubric provided below.
