Flashcards
Context
The
Excel Flashcards project was a class assignment in an
Instructional Design and Production class in spring
2004.
Conditions
This
project was developed for use by students in an undergraduate
Computers in Business course that addressed advanced
spreadsheet functions. Two instructors for sections
of the course were part of a four person development
team, who acted as subject matter experts for the project.
One of the instructors and a third team member developed
the paper prototype of this game.
Scope
This
game was tested on students in multiple sections and
received good reviews. We delivered a final version
of this game, which the course instructors (two teammates)
indicated would be used in future sections of the course
to help student prepare for exams.
Role
In
this project I helped design the layout of the game,
shared ActionScript programming responsibilities with
one other group member, and designed the usability
instruments. The entire project was a collaborative
effort, with much of the initial design work taking
place during group meMarch 27, 2006 out, another member and myself worked on the ActionScript
(and some XML) necessary to make the game work. We each
took on separate functions of the overall program.
