The Evolution of Classroom Technology – Edudemic – Nice collection

Media_httpedudemiccom_imngi

I love seeing these lists. It reminds us how technology has always played a part in education, but it also reminds us of how silly it often seems in retrospect. Look no further than the mass of technologies shown over the last 20 years. These will likely seem quite silly in another 20.

Early 1900s in Colour – All around the world : International photos of Albert Kahn

Media_httpcitynoiseor_odhev

This is amazing. It’s just remarkable to see a time that we associate with sepia, these color photos of life in the beginning of the 20th century.

This blog post (http://citynoise.org/article/10598) has a great sample of these photos and they are much better quality than those on the museum website. However, the museum website has a much larger selection. The following URL is the map that lets you go to pictures by country (http://www.albert-kahn.fr/archives-de-la-planete/mappemonde/#c750).

You really should check these out, but I would suggest avoiding the comments in the blog. Big time suck and little of substance.

Tom Brokaw Explains Canada To Americans

This is a good video that briefly shows our close relationship. It is nice to see it, as brief as it is, on national TV. However, I can’t imagine that anything there was particularly surprising to Americans (yes, US Americans).

The comments section drives me nuts, though. I’m not sure why I read the comments section ever. It’s like that inner need to watch a tragedy. The best comments are people expressing pride for Canada and both groups expression appreciation for one another. At worst is it a mixture of outright trolls and left-handed complements (directed at both nations), ugh!
